Haunting Home Nightmares

With Halloween upon us this month, we’ve been considering the domestic horror stories most likely to occur around this time of year. In this post we look at three chilling situations: low water pressure, lacklustre heating and flooding, but don’t be worried, at Pump Sales Direct, we have the tricks you need to combat them!

Low Water Pressure

As our lives can be so busy, we think we can all agree that time is of the essence, and we certainly don’t have time to be waiting for a sufficient volume of water to exit our water outlets. Filling the kettle in the morning, filling a bowl to wash the dishes, running a bath of an evening, we all require that these processes be done in adequate time without the hindrance of low water pressure.

The main issue low water pressure can cause however, is a poorly performing shower. A lacking flow of water during a shower can leave you feeling unrefreshed, cold and running behind in your routine. To solve this problem, we recommend that you invest in one of our shower pumps. With positive and negative pumps available amongst brands including Grundfos, Salamander and Stuart Turner, you will be sure to find something suitable for your shower.

Lacklustre Heating

In the midst of autumn as the temperature starts to drop, it becomes more and more apparent and vitally important that we be prepared now for the colder weather to come. There are a number of ways in which you can retain heat at a reduced cost, some sure-fire methods include:

  •         Closing curtains in the evening and closing any drafts by using doorstoppers
  •         Wearing multiple layers of clothing instead of just one thick layer
  •         Eating warming meals and drinking hot drinks
  •         Using a hot water bottle or a heated blanket

All of the above can assist in keeping you warm, though ultimately, we believe that it is imperative to have a reliable heating system in your home. If your heating isn’t performing as it should be, investing in one of our central heating pumps could be the answer. They work by pumping hot water around your central heating system at a controlled pressure, to ensure the water remains at the optimum temperature as it leaves your boiler, travels to your radiators and back again. We offer ranges from reputable names such Biral, Dab and Grundfos, with smaller pumps for domestic use and larger more powerful pumps for industrial purposes. Many of our pumps operate with minimal volume and are sure to heat your home more efficiently with lower running costs.

Flooding

Costly, damaging and potentially dangerous, flooding can pose a serious risk to many of us. They can be truly devastating, destroying our homes and possessions. To prevent this scenario from ever occurring, we would advise purchasing one of our sump pumps. Situated in basements, cellars or the lowest part of your home, these pumps are installed within a sump pit, specifically designed for drainage. The water is then pumped from the sump pit away from your home, resultantly leaving the area dry.

Stocking products from a number of manufacturers: ABS, Ebara and Grundfos to name just a few, you will be sure to find either the manual or automatic pump you require. We also have a selection of submersible sump pumps available, these pumps are submerged in oil. They are a more expensive option, though due to the extended life span this design provides, they would certainly be an investment.

At a reduced cost, we also stock pedestal sump pumps, with these pumps, the motor is open, therefore you may not be able to expect it to last for as long. Our sump pumps offering varying levels of power, affecting the volume of water that can be pumped. If you would like any advice on selecting the most suitable sump pump, or any of the products mentioned in this post, please do not hesitate to contact us!
